TG(16:0/16:0/20:4(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z))[iso3] belongs to the class of organic compounds known as triacylglycerols. These are glycerides consisting of three fatty acid chains covalently bonded to a glycerol molecule through ester linkages. Thus, TG(16:0/16:0/20:4(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z))[iso3] is considered to be a triradylglycerol lipid molecule. TG(16:0/16:0/20:4(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z))[iso3] is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. TG(16:0/16:0/20:4(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z))[iso3] can be biosynthesized from DG(16:0/16:0/0:0) and arachidonyl-CoA through the action of the enzyme diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase. In cattle, TG(16:0/16:0/20:4(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z))[iso3] is involved in the metabolic pathway called de novo triacylglycerol biosynthesis TG(16:0/16:0/20:4(5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z)) pathway.
